Research: Representation in Music Videos
Music videos allow artists to represent marginalised groups and highlight struggles faced by minority social groups, or point out any issues faced by a social group in general. On the other hand, it can be argued that these videos can sometimes serve to perpetuate stereotypes and social stigmas that aren't accepted in wider society.
For example, the video of Queens 1984 song "I Want To Break Free", which was considered controversial at the time of release because of the drag representation, which wasn't generally accepted in society.
I want to make sure my music video is widely inclusive and creatively tackles social issues in a subtle and powerful way
