Critical Evaluation
Firstly, I wanted to tackle this years project on my own to test my skills.
Throughout this experience I have gained valuable knowledge on my limits, as well as getting the privilege to test said limits. At first, I was never really confident I could successfully direct an actor according to my vision, but it ended up being a very nice experience. I was able to improve my camera skills drastically. I was able to include more of my creativity without being limited by my skills which I think allowed the project to shine.
That being said, there were still many aspects I could improve upon.
My camerawork mostly is very static, which not only caused problems for me in post production, but also lowered the quality of the video overall, as it made it seem more still than I had hoped. My editing was also not up to my best standard, in part due to the short time constraints I laid on myself due to my schedule as well as the lack of equipment I was confident enough in since my old laptop broke, which limited the possibilities of VFX I wanted to try.
Conclusively, this project was my own, rather than a team. This allowed me to try every aspect of the production process from the initial planning to the final production. I was able to see where I lacked and where I was satisfactory, which I enjoyed.
